2016 Year of Havel
On Wednesday 6 January 2016, the Václav Havel Library ceremonially launched the New Year with an Epiphany evening. The director of the VH Library, Michael Žantovský, together with Pavel Niklová, director of the Václav Havel Library Foundation, and the founder of Art for Amnesty–Amnesty International, Bill Shipsey, used the occasion to introduce the project Havel@80 (a video greeting from them can be viewed here). The world-famous singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega then spoke to the assembled.
The evening also saw the presentation of this website, the sales release of an electronic version of the Works of Václav Havel and, last but not least, the launch of the Hey, it’s Havel! non-professional photography collection. One product of the latter should be book-form best wishes in connection what would have been Václav Havel’s 80th birthday; you can support the project via the website HitHit.
Photographs from the evening can be viewed here.
